Inspired by caricatures by Gori (Vello Agori) and Vallot (Edmund Valtman), historian Eero Medijainen examines Allied attitudes toward the Baltic question during World War II. Using archival sources, he shows how Churchill and Roosevelt - driven by fear of Hitler, concern about Stalin, and hopes of Allied unity - ultimately accepted the Soviet annexation of the Baltic states with little remorse. The book challenges conventional views of Estonia’s wartime history, revealing how great power politics condemned the Baltic peoples to decades of suffering.
