Alfred Koort, the first Estonian professional philosopher, thus appeared at the sunset of Western philosophy. At the time when he was considering how new ways of thinking would sound most comprehensible in the Estonian language, there was already talk elsewhere about the need to transcend the entire philosophy and even the human being. There were also voices that proclaimed the impending demise of the white race as a matter of course. The orientation towards the past, which prevailed until the Age of Enlightenment, had been replaced with a firm aim towards the future.
