The thesis discusses Adam Andreae’s album amicorum and its entries in the context of European tradition of alba amicorum. It focuses on cultural-historical and literary-historical analysis of the album, with the aim of establishing whether and in which ways Humanistic-Christian educational tradition, historical circumstances etc have influenced entries in it. In European context, Andreae’s collection is a typical yet peculiar Humanistic-Christian album amicorum, which reflects both earlier tradition and new tendencies. Although Andreae was a studiosus when he kept the album, we are dealing with a collegial rather than a typical student album. The topics and tonality of the entries, their textual sources but also intermediaries make it a typical Humanistic album on the one hand and a typical album of a theologian on the other. Beside traditional features one can already see reflections of ongoing changes in social, educational, cultural and intellectual life, together with a changing mentality, that led to the birth of Modern Age Enlightenment society. Some latest fashions also found their way to Andreae’s album, with respect to the choice of both language and citations. In its tonality, it is a theological album amicorum with strong ethical tendencies. In addition, it can be considered as Andreae’s personal florilegium.
