Unlike the earlier book «Meie Keres. Kujunemisaastad», the new publication covers Paul Keres’s entire life and chess career. The book is published posthumously but has been compiled in accordance with Valter Heuer’s wishes by bringing together his various writings published at different times, supplementing them in places with additional games, some of which have been annotated by former world champion Garri Kasparov. The introductory articles are authored by Ülo Tuulik and grandmaster Genna Sosonko.
The book is a tribute and an expression of gratitude to both Paul Keres and Valter Heuer – to the world-famous chess player, probably the best-known Estonian of all time outside Estonia, and to the chess-playing man of letters who thoroughly, precisely, and memorably recorded the life story and ordeals of his compatriot who reached the very summit of world chess.
