The book continues the work of the members of the Old Estonian Language Research Group at the University of Tartu's Department of Estonian Language, focusing on the analysis of the vocabulary in the oldest Estonian texts. The book contains all the words found in Rossihnius's printed texts and the appended manuscript section, along with information on their usage and forms. It reveals the uniqueness of Rossihnius's vocabulary, particularly its South Estonian character, and the regional dialect spoken around Tartu, which began to play a role in written language in early 17th-century Sweden-ruled Estonia. The dictionary contains 1985 headwords, and there are 63,238 Estonian words in the Estonian-language texts. The introduction before the dictionary explains in detail the information provided by the dictionary and its structure. In the list following the dictionary, all the words from Rossihnius's church manuals can be found. This is followed by a brief overview of the lexical features of Rossihnius's texts and a statistical summary of word frequencies compared to other old sources and contemporary language
