In this debut novel, the author presents a portrait of modern life in Iceland. He describes in detail life on a farm and at a trading post, while also shedding light on economic issues. The backdrop is the Icelandic landscape: the dark winter and the short, blossoming summer, the autumn storms that sweep away fathers and sons, the snow, and the volcanoes.
