The present PhD thesis studies the sequential organization of Estonian telephone conversation openings. The methodology is based on a combination of methods and theoretical principles of interactional linguistics, conversation analysis and ethnography of communication. The data corpus used in the present study comes from the Corpus of Spoken Estonian of the University of Tartu and consists of 131 everyday telephone calls.
