In his book, Flemish explorer Johan-Mark Elsing depicts his journeys in one of the world's largest nature reserves – Kruger National Park.
Kruger National Park was established as early as 1898 during the presidency of Paul Kruger in what was then the South African Republic. Spanning an area of almost 20,000 square kilometers, the park is home to nearly 150 species of animals, including the renowned "big five" (African elephant, rhinoceros, African buffalo, lion, leopard), 500 bird species, and over a hundred reptile species. The park encompasses 30 distinct ecosystems.
