The Kuremäe elevation is situated in the gently undulating landscape of northern Estonia, surrounded by scenic natural beauty. From its summit, which rises a full 95 metres above sea level, a magnificent view stretches for dozens of kilometres.
Almost at the very top of the elevation stands the Kuremäe (Pyhtitsa) Convent—the only one of its kind in our small republic. Within the convent walls, views, beliefs and customs unfamiliar to us prevail. Here, people have renounced building their lives on earth and devote themselves to preparing for the life beyond the grave.
