The book discusses general aspects of turning operations, the cutting process and cutting tools, the construction of lathes, and the surface finish and accuracy of machined parts. A large part of the book is devoted to basic turning operations, including the machining of external surfaces, drilling of holes, cutting of tapers and threads, etc. Methods for increasing the productivity of turning operations are also presented.

The book is intended for first- and second-grade turners for professional qualification upgrading, as well as for vocational school students and instructors in industrial training.
