In our local community, a wide range of generations live side by side: the oldest were born in the 1920s and are children of the republic, while the youngest already identify themselves as children of the Singing Revolution. Each generation carries its own burden of experiences and memories, yet all of them are connected in one way or another — sometimes closely, sometimes more loosely, or even in opposition. The book presents varied generational portraits based mainly on life-story interviews and focus-group discussions, which are further linked by two articles examining the rites of passage that unite or divide generations, as well as the dynamics of core values.
