Innovation is a relatively new scientific discipline. By its nature, it is interdisciplinary, closely connected to economics, technology, science policy, and various other theoretical and applied disciplines. In this course, we aim to provide introductory knowledge about innovation, with a focus on its connection to technology and the economy. Emphasis is placed on the economic aspect of innovation. The material does not limit itself to abstract theoretical approaches but also considers that production managers, engineers, and practitioners in a broader sense can draw inspiration for addressing similar questions in their work. Primarily, this work is intended as a study tool for students, which is reflected in its concise presentation style.
