Karl Joseph Brodtmann (3 February 1787 - 14 May 1862) was a Swiss artist, lithographer, printmaker, publisher, and bookseller, active mainly in Zürich and Schaffhausen. He produced numerous hand‑coloured natural history lithographs - especially animals, birds, reptiles, and fish - often in collaboration with the Swiss naturalist Heinrich Rudolf Schinz. Brodtmann’s works are valued for their combination of scientific accuracy and aesthetic quality.
