The present "Physics for the Fifth Class of Secondary School" has been compiled based on the 1938 curricula. Since this textbook is also intended for use in the science track, the material presented here covers the curriculum of both types of schools. The sections of the material designated only for the science track, except for the final chapter ("Flow Phenomena"), are printed in smaller type. Some special topics, not explicitly included in the curriculum but considered by the authors necessary for clarifying or further illustrating the material covered, are likewise printed in smaller type.

The book's material order generally follows the curriculum, with a few minor exceptions. For example, measuring instruments for electricity and electrical machines have been combined into a single section for easier treatment.
