A Philosophy of Walking (2009) is Frédéric Gros's best-known work, in which he reflects on the different ways of walking – pilgrimage, hiking and hiking, among others – , examines the walking habits of famous literary figures and stresses that walking is not a sport. "'A Philosophy of Walking' cannot be read to the end. It makes you want to walk. A little walk in the room, then outdoors, then out onto the street and wherever your feet take you," says translator and poet Hasso Krull. Frédéric Gros (b. 1965) is a French philosopher, professor at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, specialising in contemporary French philosophy, in particular the intellectual legacy of Michel Foucault. Gros's main research interests include the history of psychiatry, the philosophy of punishment, and the problematics of war and obedience/interobedience.
