The second volume deals with the history of Estonian music during the period following the October Revolution, in bourgeois Estonia, up until the establishment of Soviet rule in 1940.
The work sheds light on concert life, the organization of song festivals, musical composition, and music literature, and briefly touches upon the activities of composers and performers. The section on composers’ works covers approximately twenty years. A summarizing evaluation is provided only for those composers who concluded their creative activity during that period.
