The 2nd edition of the dictionary contains about 22,000 keywords, of which about 550 are published for the first time in this edition. Most of the new keywords have been translated from the Finnish work "Lääketieteen termit", about twenty keywords related to Estonian conditions have been added on the recommendation of the Medical Terminology Commission.

Many of the keywords from the previous edition have been edited both in terms of content and language.
