The book "Sailing Ships and Icebreakers on the Baltic Sea and Beyond" tells the story of the great, beautiful sailing ships that have sailed the Baltic Sea over time, as well as the large, powerful icebreakers that have done their hard work, about which there is almost no information available in Estonian.

At least half a dozen German ship captains who were either from Estonia or lived here also led Russian circumnavigation expeditions in the 19th century: Adam Johann von Krusenstern, Otto von Kotzebue, and Friedrich Benjamin von Lütke, who are also discussed in more detail.
