This third edition of the researches of the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Estonian SSR is dedicated to the questions of the history of Estonian literature from the emergence of peaceful literature to the present day. The collection contains five articles, all of which are parts of longer monographic studies currently in progress, usually introductory chapters. The mentioned works as a whole were completed in 1958-1959. over the year.
