The members of the Department of Estonian Literature and Folklore have, since its establishment in 1944, been engaged in extensive academic research in the fields of literary history, literary theory, historiography, teaching methodologies of literature, folklore, and more. Regular folklore research expeditions are conducted, and field practices for students are consistently organized throughout the country. The department has consistently delved into the study of the history of science.
This collection, dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the University of Tartu, brings together research and overview articles by the department's faculty, postgraduates, and laboratory assistants.
