The selection presents texts from the Northeast Estonian coastal dialect area, specifically from the dialects of Jõelähtme, Kuusalu, and Jõhvi. It was not possible to present language examples from all dialects. The texts in Jõelähtme and Kuusalu dialects were collected by Gustav Vilbaste (born 1885), and the narratives from the Jõhvi dialect were collected by Endel Mets (born 1921).
