In the presented work, the author for the first time incorporates biblical legends into the chronological narrative alongside historical and literary sources. According to the author, "Religion is the heart of culture," and therefore, the history of Christianity cannot be excluded from the overall history of antiquity. The author not only draws upon meticulously researched sources and numerous hypotheses about the origins of Rome but also seeks to understand "what the Romans themselves knew and thought about their past, what they said about it, how they evaluated it, and how they understood it." It is from this perspective that F.F. Zelinsky utilizes the works of renowned historians such as Livy, Tacitus, Suetonius, and Plutarch. The scholar-moralist follows in the footsteps of Tacitus, studying all possible materials without anger or bias, in order to select those factors that "can serve as seeds for fertilizing the modern mind.
