The director of the Dresden Zoo and his wife learned about wild elephants, rhinoceroses, water buffaloes and animal lifestyles on a trip to Southeast Asia, the jungles of Ceylon and Nepal. Constant presence among the animals, persistence and patience allowed the authors to gain the trust of the inhabitants of the jungle and to observe and photograph them in the most diverse situations. We also got to know the culture, religious customs and daily life of the local people.
