In the scientific publication on Estonian proverbs, an attempt has been made to comprehensively present all known types of Estonian proverbs based on existing archival materials and collections published in print. This includes all authentic textual variants of Estonian proverbs or Estonian proverb texts that are of scientific interest in any sense. All available data on the meaning and usage of these texts, their appearance in printed sources, geographical origin, and other relevant information are provided. Additionally, numerical data on the frequency of occurrence of each proverb type and textual variant in the used text corpus is presented.
