Laulu võim : värssromaan

Ivar Grünthal’s The Power of Song is a grand poetic system, an architectonically composed book. This verse novel, originally published in chapters in the magazine Mana between 1976 and 1986, has now been unified into a single volume for the first time. It follows the life of the protagonist, singer Ants Luuberg, from the 1940s up to, indirectly, the 1960s. The narrator presents numerous perspectives on historically significant events and figures important to Estonia, creating a mosaic of the Estonian experience of occupation and the sense of exile.
