Among Ilmari Kianto's works, the novel «The Red Line» (1909) has received the general recognition of the Finnish reviewer as the best work of the writer's production so far, in terms of its artistic value. In "The Red Line" Kianto describes the moods and hopes that prevailed in the circles of Finnish kefeks after the Russian 1905. the revolution, which ended the era of oppression and Russification in Finland during the time of Alexander III and Nicholas II and helped liberal and radical currents, especially the social democratic movement, to victory. These moods, hopes and disappointments are reflected in the first election campaign of Finland's new prosperity and in the descriptions of the lives of the poor people of Northern Finland at that time, in which the writer has given an incredibly striking cross-section of their brains, which has made "The Red Line" one of the most notable works in Finnish literature.
