This is a book about the suffering of the Estonian people during the summer of war in 1941. Many accounts have already been written by those who themselves endured these difficult times.

This book, however, is distinctive because it presents these events through the reports of the Red perpetrators themselves. These reports were recorded in 1942 in Russia by H. Kruus’s historical commission. For many years, these materials were hidden in the secret archives of the Communist Party, accessible only to a very limited number of people.
