Based on unique materials and interviews collected by the author, Finnish journalist Anne-Riitta Isohella, this documentary narrative is the first extensive study conducted in Finland regarding the experiences of young Estonian men who participated in the Continuation War in Finland and Estonia during the pivotal days of World War II. The men of the 200th Infantry Regiment, the protagonists of this book, fought on the Karelian Isthmus in the summer of 1944. In August 1944, they boarded a ship at the port of Hanko to return to Estonia at the 'eleventh hour,' as the Red Army was already advancing northward.
