The research work has been completed over a span of 14 years. The work is divided into three parts. The first part ("Land, monuments, culture") analyzes both the landscapes of the lower reaches of the Pirita River and the excavated monuments according to settlement units. The second part ("Chronology") is dedicated to the issues of Metal Age chronology. The third part ("Settlement, society, and economy") constitutes a comprehensive archaeological analysis of settlements. It introduces its nature and principles, as well as results obtained from neighboring countries. Settlement units are analyzed throughout the Metal Age, and the development of settlements is examined separately in all studied regions, followed by a generalization of the results. The final chapter investigates social and political development and economic strategies.
