Totalitarianism's hell as such is not only manifested in concentration camps, prisons, and security cellars where people were tortured and killed. It seeped into every pore of society, even into the lives of those who lived in 'freedom.' In this book, I present the reader with five accounts that, through their content, attempt to unveil what that era did to people, how they transformed, and what actions those transformations led them to take with others. At the forefront is the assassination of a deceased writer. Following that, the creation of false heroes took place, as someone somewhere issued orders: they must exist. One of these was Jakob Kunder from Läänemaa. I aim to broadly elucidate the farce-crime surrounding the birth of these heroes, to remind how innocents were barbarically defiled, and how the streets of the town of Haapsalu were renamed for the price of three and a half rubles. This entire spiritual debility unleashed a hell from which we will endure its terrible consequences for a long time.
Why am I writing all of this? Perhaps it is because I have been a witness to certain events and feel a duty to speak about them. After all, this is a part of our people's and region's history. Here, I naturally present my version, believing that additional details will be added in the future - Voldemar Pinn
