This book is a reprint of a work published in 1957 by the Estonian Writers' Cooperative. It examines Estonian women through the ages, primarily from the perspective of social and national development. An additional text connecting the past to the present has been written by Tiia Kriisa. The book also includes descriptions of the current major women's organizations.
