Ajatu veerel

It was 1936 when my father introduced me to one of the fountains that decorate the city on Tornide Square in Tallinn. Lo and behold, there he was waiting for us, a beautiful youth cast in bronze, a wide basin above his head, from which gentle streams of water dripped onto his dark metal body.

He must have been happy to meet us. A mysterious female figure in the middle of the iridescent surface of the water, surrounded by a massive border of finely finished Finnish granite. At that time, I could not imagine that this reddish piece of granite could become a symbolic link connecting me with my father.
