Since his youth, Yevgeni Bogat has been interested in philosophy, questions of ethics and morality, and exceptional human destinies. His writings published in periodicals include philosophical stories, science fiction tales, essays about Rembrandt, Brueghel, Nietzsche, and Socrates, as well as works on anti-worlds and space flights. In his stories, he has tended to journey back through millennia and centuries, reflect on the future, and return again to the problems of contemporary life, devoting himself to questions concerning the spiritual values of socialist society and the formation of the individual.
