Both stories in the book take place in the present day. The protagonists are young people who, in the course of their own lives, begin to encounter such concepts as ethics and career, ethics and business, vocation, love, and death. Abstract notions become reality; there is no escaping them, and sooner or later everyone is forced to make a choice.
