Õekesed

Gert Helbemäe's (1913-1974) novel about four sisters who live in the first quarter of the century in Nõmme in a house built by their father and initially intended only as a summer house. All of them have remained single. Why has it happened this way, what connects and distinguishes the sisters? The sisters, aged 45-60, are forced to look into themselves again when their 5-year-old orphaned niece comes to their house. The author's attitude towards his characters is all-understanding and a little humorous.
