Sõda ja saatused : Viljandi koolipoisina Eesti Leegioni

The book is the first in the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences series "At the Call of the Fatherland." The series is primarily intended for future defenders of the homeland but may also be of broader interest. 

It describes the author’s childhood and school years in pre-war Viljandi, wartime events in Viljandi town and county, the deportations and arrests of 1941, and his enlistment in the German army. The book covers the young soldiers’ training at Heidelaager in Poland, combat operations near Narva in the winter of 1944, the formation of the 20th Artillery Regiment in Jägala, the summer defensive battles near Narva and Krivasoo, and the Battle of Avinurme. In the final part, the author recounts the return of his friends home.
