En bit jord” (A Bit of Earth) is a memoir by Käbi Laretei, an Estonian-Swedish concert pianist and writer. In this reflective and personal book, Laretei recounts her life journey—from her early years in Estonia, her exile and adaptation to life in Sweden during and after World War II, to her career in music and personal relationships, including her marriage to the Swedish director Ingmar Bergman. The memoir explores themes of identity, displacement, belonging, and the search for a personal and cultural “bit of earth” in a world marked by upheaval and change.
