Johannes Soodlat (1897–1965) can be considered one of the most diverse Estonian military figures. Throughout his service, he had to wear various uniforms, ranging from the Tsarist Army attire to the rank of a General in the Waffen-SS. In between, he also wore the only freely chosen uniform – the Estonian military uniform. The book provides a comprehensive overview of Johannes Soodla's military career, while also engagingly presenting episodes from his personal life, whether it be his childhood in Tartu or his activities as a school director in Italy. Both amusing and perhaps less suitable anecdotes can be found in Colonel Soodla's as well as later Inspector General Soodla's service and personal life.
