On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the artist's birth, an exhibition was organized to provide an overview of the work of the Baltic German painter Eduard von Gebhardt.
The exhibition catalog includes a brief overview of the artist's life and a list of his works. Illustrated with one black and white reproduction ("Estonian Peasant," 1912).
Ed. von Gebhardt is one of the few painters from our homeland who has gained European significance. In his work, he almost exclusively tackles themes selected from the Bible. Particularly intriguing for our homeland are the character studies of Estonian peasants that Gebhardt painted in the 1860s.
